Neway @ Queensbay, Penang is RIDICULOUSLY expensive!!

don't be fooled by the charges on the banner..

the prices stated there may seem very reasonable...

but actually there are alot of hidden charges once u get in, especially on Fridays and Saturdays...

went there last Saturday and was shocked when i saw the bill...

RM120 for two when it says RM35++ per person on the banner..WTH??!!

forcing customers to get the tidbits and fruit plate is really stupid...

RM11 for a tiny plate of cheap snacks and RM20 for a fruit plate with apples, oranges, tomatoes watermelon??!! SERIOUSLY??!!

i'll never go to Neway on Fridays and Saturdays...

in fact, i think i might just stick with Red Box...

Luxurious brands

I really don't understand why some people are so into all those luxurious brands like LV, Gucci, Prada, Hermes, you name it. If you are super rich and have too much extra cash to spend, then go ahead. What i don't get is people who barely have enough to support themselves but are still going crazy after those brands. This is especially directed to teenage girls who are still financially supported by their average to low income earning parents. Sometimes, I wonder if they use their brains to think at all.

There you have the parents who are working day and night to earn money so that they can make ends meet and then you have their teenage girls who have ZERO income but are spending on LV and Gucci handbags. If you buy it with you own allowances then it's still acceptable. But, if your allowances can get you a LV handbag, then your parents must be giving you alot. So, instead of spending it all on those stupid handbags, don't you think it's better to ask for less allowances so that you can ease you parents' burden a little?!

What's worst is those who spend all their allowances on the stupid handbags and later come back to their parents asking for money to buy necessities. One of the stupidest reason I've heard from these girls is 'It's my parents responsibilities to pay for my necessities mah, the allowances is my money mah!' Halo?! They have already given you monthly allowances! And that is for you to buy necessities! Not to save and spend all on stupid handbags! Do you know how hard your parents earned the money that you spent on ONE handbag? Is it really worth it?

If you want to spend on these things, please wait till you come out and work. When you are earning your own money, you can buy whatever you want! But for now, just stick to normal brands can?

Bottom line...

If you can't afford it, DON'T BUY!

If after you bought it, you have to go crawling back to your parents for more money, DON'T BUY!

My Singapore trip is one experience that I will never ever forget...

Lessons learned:-

1. Never, ever, ever, ever, EVER travel by Tiger Airways!!

2. Always have a back-up plan..very important!

3. No more midnight flight unless absolutely necessary.

4. Sport shoes are made for walking, not sandals.

5. Bring umbrella.

I don't like paying online!

Online payment is very convenient but at the same time it can be very, VERY scary! Especially in Malaysia...

Few weeks ago, I bought two flight tickets online coz it's much cheaper than going through travel agent. I happily paid using my debit card, being very proud of myself for getting such cheap tickets. However, when I checked my balance in the evening, I realised that I've been charged double the price. Instead of RM300, I was charged RM600!! I got a shock and was so worried! I didn't know what to do. RM300 is a lot for a poor working lady with tons of commitments like me. I couldn't sleep that night! I was tossing and turning on my bed thinking of what to do, who to call, whether I should go to the bank or not, what to say to them etc. Luckily, in the morning, when I double-checked my balance, I realised that the overcharged amount has been added back into my account. I was SOOOO relieved!!

Just when I were to dismiss it as a one-off thing, it happened again! Yesterday, when I bought Universal Studios tickets online, they overcharged me again! ARGH!!! As of now, it has not been resolved yet. I'll check again tomorrow morning, hopefully it will be corrected. Otherwise, it'll be really troublesome and I won't like it! Why do they always have to deduct more than they are supposed to? Don't they know that they are actually putting people off?

After these, I'll think twice before paying anything online. Actually, I'll try to avoid paying online unless it is absolutely necessary. I never had any problem making online payments in Christchurch. In fact, I don't use cash at all when I was there, it was either EFTPOS or online payment. Everything was so easy and safe there. Why can't it be the same here?! I really don't understand. Maybe it is just me...

Cousin brother's wedding. Finally I get to attend! I've missed a few of my cousins' weddings in the past due to my studies in NZ.
Long study leave from work! However, I am not looking forward to my 1st ACCA paper coz I haven't really start studying yet! *worried*

the Harass and Humiliate the New People Day @ PWC Penang

an overview of the event:

opening dance
all the guy newbies had to cross-dress and dance to 'Nobody' by Wondergirls. it was extremely hilarious! imagine 7 grown men in mini skirts, fishnets and spagetti straps! awesome nonetheless..

dinner
we girls had our task as well..during dinner, when the barbie song was played, we had to grab hold of a guy, pull him out to the front and dance with him. it was embarrassing! no one knows what we were doing! we look so crazy..dancing out of a sudden when the rest were peacefully enjoying their dinner. hence, we din really get to eat much. we were busy thinking of who to grab next!

group performance
there were three group performances, 5/6 newbies per group. although we were informed a month in advance, we could only practise for a week due to our heavy workloads. we had to come up with a funny dance performance within a week! which means after work practices and no weekends. anyway, i think we all did a great job that night! =)

individual interview
basically, we were called out one by one to be interviewed and to do a task. some were easy, some were difficult, some were funny and the rest were plain embarrassing...luckily mine was not too bad..^^

i'm just glad that it's all over and i'll never have to do it again. phew~

staying in penang is bad for health!

it is very hard not to gain weight staying here, unless u have a really high metabolism rate and you can never get fat no matter how much you eat...how i wish...

i'm always tempted to try out new stuff. there is just so many to choose from - hawker, western, japanese, korean, taiwanese, thai, vietnamese, german...you name it!

to make things worse, the buffets here are so amazingly awesome! i've been eating buffet after buffet - international buffet, steamboat buffet, korean bbq buffet etc. etc...imagine how much food i've stuffed myself with..sigh~

i really need to exercise d...if not, another few more months i'll have to change my whole wardrobe d...need to buy bigger size clothes...

to start off, no more buffet unless got occasion or need to celebrate someone's birthday. and then, i'll try to go jogging at least once a week. ganbatte!!

kay..time to watch england vs germany! have been down with world cup fever since last two weeks..hehe... ^_^

It's a fact...I'm weird. I have a really weird phobia.

This morning, my manager asked me to call a client to get some information. I sat there, staring at the phone for hours...seriously! Luckily it's not urgent.

I just can't bring myself to pick up the phone.

I really don't like making calls. Let's put it this way, I really, really, REALLY hate making calls!

I don't mind receiving them at all. In fact, I like receiving calls! Coz I feel important when people call me. Haha. :p

Making calls should be easy as well! Pick up the phone, dial the number, say whatever you have to say...done! But to me it's like the most difficult task in the world.

Whenever I have to make a call, I'm worried that I'll say the wrong thing/make a fool of myself/the person on the other end can't understand what I am saying and I'll end up mumbling or stuttering.

I need to stop thinking so much and just pick up the phone and call!

Do you know? It actually took me the whole day to successfully forced myself to make that ONE call! I had to repeatedly rehearse the script of what I want to say for like 1000 times. I ended up talking like a robot! Sigh...

WONG MUN YEE! GET OVER IT! IT'S JUST A STUPID PHONE CALL! WHAT'S WRONG WITH U??!!!

It's Saturday! YAY!

I'm soooo looking forward to weekends nowadays. The two precious days to sleep in and do things that i want to do but don't have time for during weekdays. Luckily, work is not yet so busy that i have to work on weekends. Phew~

Really miss being a student. I know I shouldn't always look back and linger in the past, but sometimes i wish i had done more. Once started working, there is just so much responsibilities and so little time. No more long holidays, much lesser flexibility and of course, less fun.

The first few days were actually quite exciting coz it was something new. But as time passed, it became so mundane, and everyday it's like a routine - wake up early in the morning to go to work, come back late at night after work, then sleep. Hardly have time for anything. Even if there is time, there won't be anymore energy left. Maybe i need to exercise more so that i don't feel so tired all the time. Hmm...

So, to those who are still studying, make sure who make full use of your time. Don't always complain about studies, working is much worse. Be grateful that you are still a student! :p

Okay, i'm done complaining about my working life. I'm going out to make full use of my weekend and to enjoy the beautiful day today! :)

so here i am, spilling virtual ink once again. life has been really mundane since i got back. anyway, here's a wee snippet of what i did, where i went and how boring my life can be... :p

went to jj's place with chin feng during the new year weekend. we went around eating hawker food. Of course.

din really have many photos coz i was just too lazy. can't blame me, it was extremely hot and stuffy! hot weather makes me lazy to move or do anything at all.. :p

then we had bbq at jj's house on the 1st night of 2010..

i din take photos of the other stuff that we did, so no need to talk about that lar.. :p

after the penang trip, jj and i visited chin feng in SP. there is a stall in SP, at the local bus station, which sells really really good ice blended. too bad i don't have photos of it. it's really good! must try if you are in SP! i like the peanut and corn ones..hehe

after that, it was all about job hunting. actually, i din really thought of doing it until my mom start pestering me to get a job. i ended up applying for all of the big fours and went for two interviews, one in Petaling Jaya and another one in Penang. I have to go all the way down to PJ and Penang just for the interviews. very tiring..

luckily, i got job offers from both firms and finally decided on PWC Penang. i will be working in Penang starting 1st March...my whole family will be moving there as well, but at a later date. so long, Alor Star! :)

last but not least, i bought a car! Perodua ViVA. i bought a car without knowing how to drive. how cool is that. haha. y ViVA? first, it's affordable. second, i wanted a really, really small car so that it will be easier for me to handle. im really bad with driving. havent got the car yet tho. wen i get it, im going to pose with it and take a photo. my first car! hehe.

other than all these, i've just been sitting at home, eating, sleeping, watching tv and doing house chores. how fun and exciting! Sigh...

submitted my report today...finally, the burden is off... another 1 more presentation and 1 1/2 more essays and i am done with uni...

honours year is coming to an end, which means i'll soon have to leave Christchurch for good...

i am really glad that all the stress and sleepless nights will soon be over, but at the same time, i can't help feeling very heavy-hearted...

i used to hate coming to Christchurch, but after almost 4 years here, i really don't want to leave...

Christchurch has become a very, very special place to me. I have done things that I've never thought I'd do and I've met many great and wonderful people who have impacted my life, in one way or another.

when it is time to leave, i know i'll be really sad. but i believe when something ends, there is often a new and better beginning...it's time to move on and see what God has planned for me. there is a whole new journey waiting for me to embark on...

but no matter what happens in the future, i know i'll never ever forget my time here in Christchurch and all the amazing people that I have met and helped me along the way. :)

quite bitter and salty...

not too bad...

overall, a very nice and cozy restaurant...

the 5-week mid year break is coming to an end...so sad. T_T

don't want to go back to uni yet...i still want to play n eat n play n eat... *sigh*

didn't really get to do much during the holidays...

the one and only interesting thing that I did was going a short trip to Wellington

the trip to Wellington was fun! had a great time eating, cafe-hopping, sightseeing and taking photos! (am too lazy to upload the photos...they're on facebook, check it out if interested. :p)

just wanna say a very big thanks to Fran and her flatmates for having us..also to Gloria for accompanying me. Although it's just a very short trip, I really enjoyed myself! :)

Oh ya, there's another interesting event during the holidays - the TALENT NITE!!..it was great! getting better and better every year! :D

Just wanted to say that...

Tatsumi's Teppanyaki Eel on Rice is very yummy!!

The Lychee Liquor with Orange Juice (right) is also very nice! :D

The other one is Campari Liquor with Grapefruit Juice...taste a bit weird. Hehe

The restaurant is nice and cosy, I like! :D

IMO, worth trying! :)

Tong sui

I was really craving for tong sui for the past few days but I couldn't find any restaurant that sells anything other than red and green bean.

Therefore, due to my intense craving, I decided to make my own tong sui/dessert. At first, I was contemplating on whether to make bubur cha cha or bubur pulut hitam.

I finally decided on making bubur pulut hitam, mainly because I've never eaten it before and bubur cha cha is very fattening. :p

It is actually quite easy to make. Just follow the recipe nia.. :p

and after hours of soaking and boiling....TA DAA!!!

...my very own bubur pulut hitam!... :)

It was quite good actually! I can't believe I've never tried it before. Hmm...

Next time, I shall try to make longan tong sui! Hehe...

i hate statistics and SPSS.. >< sleep deprivation is bad...really bad! :( sims 3 is out!! go play! :p Kancho make me sick..i shall never eat Kancho again.. :S i want to watch 'knock knock loving you' series... :) Diversity won Britain's Got Talent! YAY! was rooting for them.. ^^9 thats all for now... i want to go play sims 3 alr... :p

woke up super early today..

had breakfast at Cup cafe, overlooking the Canterbury plains and the Southern Alps!

amazing view, fantastic food..!

i ABSOLUTELY love my hot choc!!

...look at the flower!! Sooo pretty!..

Glo's chai latte was pretty too.. ^_^

both of us had smoked salmon bagel..

the salmon was so fresh n tasty...yummy~!

what a wonderful breakfast.. :)

i shall now begin my cafe/breakfast hunting journey..hehe

Holiday

I'm so looking forward to the mid year break. Although I still have to work on my research, at least I don't have to worry about any other assignments. No need to go for lectures, no presentations, no essays for 5 weeks! Faster come, faster! Can't wait!

The coming 2 weeks are going to be crazy! So many stuff piling up. All need to be completed within the 2 weeks. Sometimes I wish I had exams and tests instead. Then I don't have to do anything during the term and only study last minute for exams (I'm not a good role model, I know. :p). *sigh*

644 - 3 essays

614 - 3rd assignment + research proposal + proposal presentation

658 - seminar presentation + research proposal

Haven't started on any of these yet. T_T

Somemore, the weather is not helping at all! Everyday is so gloomy, wet and cold. My biggest task everyday is keeping myself away from the bed. Every time when I try to do some work, I'll find myself laying comfortably on my bed, under the duvet. *sigh*

I really need to start doing something!

Had dinner at LoneStar for the first time with some of my coursemates. I had a small serving of lamb shank which includes 2 lamb shanks, a large scoop of mashed potatoes and a medium-sized bowl of salad. The mashed potatoes were really good! There were some crispy strips (don't really know what it is or what it is called) on the plate which were really, really tasty. The lamb shanks, to me, were alright, not particularly good or anything. I'm not really a fan of lamb anyway. Just thought it would be a waste not having tried a proper lamb meal in NZ. For the lamb shank, you can either have the small or large serving. I opted for the small serving coz someone told me that their servings are actually quite big. Even so, I couldn't finished it. The portion was huge! I was so super full! I practically have to force the second lamb shank down my throat! -_-"

The dinner cost me $25 which I think would be quite reasonable if you can share it with someone. I couldn't finish it alone so quite wasting. I managed to finish one and a half lamb shanks, barely touched the salad and there was still some mashed potatoes left on my plate. I didn't want to takeaway the leftovers coz it just feel weird. Hehe. At first, I was actually contemplating on whether to have the full serving or the small serving. Thank God, I didn't go with the full serving! Otherwise, it would have been worse! A few of us had lamb shank while the rest had salmon, fish, chicken, pork ribs etc. Their portions weren't that big compared to the lamb shank. Weird.

Anyway, I had a great dinner and great time hanging out with my coursemates. A good opportunity to get to know my coursemates better. *wink*

So ya, I had my first proper lamb meal in NZ and I am...satisfied! That makes another tick on my checklist of the must-do things in NZ before I leave. Hehe. ^_^

Eye care in NZ

Eye-care in NZ is super, super, SUPER expensive!!

Lenses = $248.40

Frame = $108

Eye-examination = $65

Prescription = $15

Total = $436.40

With that amount, I can get at least THREE new pair of glasses in Malaysia!!!

$400 gone just like that! Waaa...sakitnyerr!!

Hopefully I can get back at least $300 from insurance lar.. *sigh*

very sad! T_T

Shopping is fun!

Shopping makes me forget about all the work that is piling up..

Shopping makes me feel happy especially when I get something I like or I've always wanted at a really good deal..

Shopping is good exercise (walking is a type of exercise, ok!)..

Shopping is a really good stress therapy!

And I think it's good to reward yourself once in awhile. :D

Type A behaviour pattern (TABP)

"under stress, tend to exhibit behaviors such as achievement striving, competitiveness, time-urgency, hostility, aggressiveness, irritability, and impatience"

"hyperreactive to environment stressors"

"tend to work longer hours, travel more, be more confident about their own abilities"

"most likely outperform Type B individuals under stressful environment"

"motivated by strong desire to control, always seeking to regain control"

"however under prolonged exposure to stress, tend to suspend all effort to regain control (in other words, they tend to give up more easily then Type B individuals)"

"more prone to coronary heart disease and gastrointestinal, respiratory, and nonspecific viral illness"

the opposite of TABP (obviously!)
